Program Supervisor - Mr. Jay Ellingwood

Introduces patrollers to basic fundamental MTR skills to include alpine travel and orienteering, crevasse rescue, self arrest techniques, rappelling, survival protection (snow cave concepts) and general "alpine hutte" etiquette.  Additional curriculums are also offered for those wishing to advance their knowledge, skills and understanding.  Typically, students completing the advanced curriculum return as instructors for the basic course.  This program is also closely associated with the Avalanche Education Program and, more often than not, MTR is combined with Avalanche events to offer the attendee the greatest "bang for the buck".
