Education Programs

Educational events are a great opportunity to polish your skills and get to know patrol members from all of our European Division patrols.

Even the most seasoned patroller is never truly done training.  Whether you're out on the hill to assist with the new candidates or exploring a new trail with a fellow patroller, you're still focusing and honing important NSP skills. Our training events are open to all patrollers and we also are happy to share the mountain with prospective members who'd like to see how we operate first-hand.

Education Disciplines

•  AVA - Avalanche

•  ID - Instructor Development

•  MTR - Mountain Travel & Rescue

•  OEC - Outdoor Emergency Care

•  OET - Outdoor Emergency Transportation

European Division training events are held at a number of locations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.  Check out our Home Page to download the latest Division Calendar (.pdf) to learn when our next ski training and/or classroom events will be held.

The On-the-Hill events are primarily geared towards Candidates for Patroller, Alpine Patroller , Nordic Patroller and Senior Alpine/Nordic Patroller levels.  You can find information about lodging and logistics for each of our locations and a recommended pack list.

Our Mountain Travel and Rescue and Avalanche Courses are open to the public, but priority placement is given to National Ski Patrol members.  These courses have specific prerequisites as well as a screening process that is required for student safety.
